SysErrors is an easy to use lookup table for System Errors.
Primarily it's intended as a quick aid for programmers and technical support.
It came about because I used to use a handy little thing called System Errors DA, which appears to have fallen by the wayside.
The fault tables are separated and searchable, with look ups in decimal and hex, you can even use it as a hex convertor if you want.
The fault tables are held in the application resource fork, the ResEdit template is there too. If you needed to update the existing tables or add third party library codes then it's very easy.
SysErrors is shareware, if people submit changes and updates then I'll incorporate them and put out new versions. The cost is ONLY $5, if you wish too distribute a customized version then the distribution fee is negotiable.

Installing SysErrors
SysErrors is distributed as a self extracting archive, which when expanded will install the following items into a single folder of your choice.

This documentation.
If you download from the web then it will probably land on your machine in a binhexed format.
Registering your copy of SysErrors
Of course I don't expect you to register before you've had a chance to use it but you may as well know now that SysErrors is not free. SysErrors is distributed as shareware. Under the terms of the attached licence agreement you are permitted to use the product on a trial basis for 30 days. If you wish to continue using the product beyond that period, you are required to pay a registration fee of $5. And of course added to which if you register you will receive notification of updates. See the chapter on registration for how to use the included Register program.
Hardware and software requirements
I'd like to be able to say that this software runs on any Mac going, but it's only been tested under System 7.5 through to 7.6.1 on an 840AV and a 7100/66. Try it, is the simple answer, if it works then it's good. If it doesn't work then I'll do my best to find out why.
